I would love to hear from you. I am a real human being that likes people, but only if you read (that’s a joke).

My name is Brandon Monk. I'm an attorney in a small town in Texas. Teachers are scattered throughout my family tree and my dad used to tell me all the time I should teach. I ended up going to law school, but there was some part of me that wanted to give something back in a different way than the practice of law allows. So, I ask you:
Have you been away from reading for some time?
Did you read less last year than you wanted to?
Do you want to contribute to a community that views reading as an essential activity, as essential as breathing?
I want you to read, learn, and write for life.
I want reading to be the activity through which you seek answers to the questions you can't answer anywhere else.
I want reading to be the activity through which you find new questions or new ways of asking old questions.
I want you to be inspired to read and I want you to inspire others to read through your stories and advice.

Brandon, just want to congratulate you on doing such a fine job with read.learn.write. You’ve had some impressive and informative posts (I especially enjoyed your NY trip), and your guest posts are thoughtful and insightful. Thanks again for your dedication to this project.
Thank you for permitting me to re-print Anjali Amit’s article on my blog http://www.childrenswritersworld.blogspot.com. I have provided a link back to your website. Her article will be posted tomorrow, March 11th. Wishing you the best.
You’re very welcome. Anjali deserves all the exposure she can get. She’s a talented writer and her love for reading is inspiring.
Thanks for the link back to the site.
Thank you so much for your encouraging words. This project is my leisurely escape from the practice of law and the greatest reward is what I’ve learned along the way. Hearing from others getting some entertainment or insight from the site is icing on the proverbial cake. Your great contribution helped get the guest posts moving in the righ direction. For that, I thank you!
my Husband can not read or write, he will love to read. but I don’t know where to go for help, he does not want me to teach him. please let me know what to do, or where to get help for him.
thanks
Monica.
This is not my area of expertise, but I did find this site: http://literacydirectory.org/. What you can do is enter in your zip code and extend the range to the amount of miles that you are willing to travel for classes. That should provide you with some resources.
Also, if you would be willing to provide your location (you can do it in an email to readlearnwrite@gmail.com if you prefer) I could make a more specific search for additional resources. Don’t hesitate to email!
